About
Report. Prove. Get paid.
DashcamBounty is an independent publication covering citizen violation-reporting programs — starting with New York City's Citizens Air Complaint Program, which pays residents 25% of collected idling fines. We maintain the only continuously updated public dataset of the program's enforcement records, and we publish the field guides we wish had existed when we filed our first complaint.
Who's behind this
DashcamBounty is researched, built, and written by Mario Bailey (LinkedIn), who maintains the data pipeline behind every statistic on this site. The pipeline pulls NYC's official OATH hearing records monthly, and its full methodology — filters, company-name grouping, known limitations — is public on the methodology page.
Editorial principles
The full version lives at /editorial-policy/.
- Every statistic traces to documented public data or a cited source. No fabricated numbers, ever.
- We publish the downsides — dismissal causes, payment lag, declining complaint volumes — not just the upside.
- Companies are described by their records, accurately and with scope stated.
- Affiliate links and advertising never influence findings, and are always disclosed.
